BOARD OF TRUSTEES
Treasurer - Sarah is a mother, economist, activist, political analyst, and lover of anything that gets her adrenaline going! She has worked in international development for over 20 years, for DFID, Cabinet Office, the World Bank, UN, and many NGOs. She has lived and worked in over 40 countries and visited many more. She is passionate about the rights of every child to enjoy a childhood free from hunger, disease and full of joy and the fun of play, building friendships and learning.
Chair - Katy works at the forefront of international strategic communications. She has extensive experience working with high profile individuals and organisations. An astute strategist and polished writer, Katy helps NGOs, international institutions and individuals to develop effective organisational messages, narratives and communications strategies. Based in London, she has lived and worked in many countries and has implemented communications plans reaching audiences around the world.
Secretary - Libby was an adventure playground leader in the early 80’s working in north Manchester. She went on to establish a career in regeneration, developing, managing and implementing social programmes for Hulme, Moss Side and East Manchester, including parks and playgrounds, health facilities, schools and also voluntary /community projects. All her work was in partnership with the local communities. After spending time working in Rwanda, she now works for a charity in the Lake District.
Paul started his career as a youth worker in 1980 working with disadvantaged young people in Manchester. He has led a number of high profile national initiatives focused on reconnecting young people with mainstream learning programmes and has had representation on advisory groups with the Department for Education and Youth Justice Board. He is now the Chief Executive of the charity Manchester Young Lives (MYL) - a pioneer of community-based-and-managed adventure playgrounds for over forty years.
ADVISORY BOARD
Anteneh grew up in Harar in eastern Ethiopia but now lives in Addis Ababa. As an Architect and Urban Designer, Anteneh has worked for important practicing offices like SKAS Consulting Architects. He studied Architecture and Urban Planning at Addis Ababa University as a bachelor degree and went on to Switzerland to do his Masters of Advanced Studies in Urban Design at the ETH Zurich. Anteneh is now a lecturer and a Chair Holder of the Chair of Architecture and Design II at the EiABC.
Angela is a curious researcher, a yogini and a passionate photographer. She is an economic demographer, international development specialist and statistician with experience in data collection and analysis of complex datasets. She currently works for the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and in the past has worked for UNICEF in Ethiopia and DFID in London. She holds a PhD in Demography from the University of Southampton and an MSc in Economics from the University of Pisa, Italy.
Haileyesus was born and grew up in Awassa a lake side town in Southern Ethiopia. He studied architecture at the EiABC in Addis. Haile is an expert when it comes to bamboo design and construction and in 2009 established his own company called Haileyesus Bamboo Works - which is OTB lead construction partner.
